What is JaxPad?

JaxPad is an alternative to other gallery sites with an emphasis on the art and a pleasant experience. It's about art and fun, when you get right down to it!

JaxPad has a parent site, ArtSpots, both of which attempt to foster a community for artists to grow. Both sites use the same userbase, so your login here will work for ArtSpots.

How do I get on JaxPad?

To get a gallery on JaxPad, just sign up and check the Gallery checkbox!

Who is running the show?

As-cast-line

ArtSpots and JaxPad are run by a bunch of cheetahs who represent various aspects of the sites. Why cheetahs? Art… Spots.

Seurat

Seurat the Cheetah Artiste

Seurat is your host throughout the site, the 'head spotty' so to speak. This is his project and he is more than happy to help people, answer any questions they may have, or listen to suggestions on how to take the site forward towards its goals.

Babbage

Babbage C. Cheetah

ArtSpots Programmer

Babbage is the cat in charge of programming the site. Without him, this site would not exist. Any technical related questions should be directed to him in our Support Forum, which he watches. Any bugs or oddities that pop up, he is the one to talk to!

Engelbart

Engelbart D. Mouse

ArtSpots Systems Administrator

The only non-feline member of the ArtSpots team, the diminutive Engelbart takes care of all the behind-the-scenes tech—servers, network connections, wires and the like. An associate of Babbage, in tandem they hold the site together.

The Reviewers

All the following people take care of not only reviewing new applicants, but also helping out people in the critique forums when they can.

Gauguin

Gauguin Cheetah

ArtSpots Reviewer

Gauguin may notice more flaws than fancy, but is very much interested in giving artists a goal to work for, aware that improving art skill is a lot of work. He is very matter-of-fact, offering up-front constructive criticism, but can certainly point out what he likes if prodded.

Lilla

Lilla Cheetah

ArtSpots Reviewer

Lilla is a cheerful sort, likely to gush about aspects of an artist's work. But, do not let that fool you! She can lay down the redlines with the best of them. Ever encouraging, she wants to see every artist on ArtSpots someday, showing them exactly what they need to do to get there.

Rousseau

Rousseau Cheetah

ArtSpots Reviewer

A bit strict at times, Rousseau is amazingly helpful when you can catch him on the forums. His ability to offer up loads of advice and still have more where that came from puts the other reviewers behind. But be warned, asking for specifics might get you more information than you bargained for!

Monet

Monet

ArtSpots Reviewer

Overall fair and balanced, Monet is one to focus on the newer techniques for producing art, and is excellent at critiquing digital mediums and ways to improve drawing skills using the new tools offered to artists.

Sargent

John Cheetah Sargent

ArtSpots Reviewer

What John likes to see are those who branch out and take illustration in a new but solid direction, and is very likely to recommend ways to do that—once the basics are covered, of course. More likely to be seen in the forums than reviewing applications, he wants to see everyone stretch their limits.

Support Staff

There are a whole range of duties involved in running a site, and these cats have their own unique roles, sometimes overlapping, in running the front end.

Toulouse

Toulouse Cheetah

ArtSpots Gamemaster

If there is anything on the site that involves fun, it probably involves Toulouse! Responsible for running the more entertaining and challenging parts of the site—the games—he is ever-bouncy and always looking for new ways to keep artists on their toes.

Blanc

Blanc Cheetah

ArtSpots Critic

Ah, what would be an art gallery without a critic? Not really as bad as the title sounds, Blanc writes essays about art and the art world in an attempt to both educate and spark discussion. He can sometimes be seen also acting as the forum moderator.

Beatrix

Beatrix

Business Advisor

Being an artist is actually running your own business, and nobody is more willing to tell you how to run it like one than Beatrix. Not only will she give useful tidbits of information, but is always willing to answer questions on the topic. One question she can always answer like clockwork: No matter the prices you charge for your art, they are probably too little.

Okeefe

Cheetah O'Keefe

ArtSpots Librarian

With a constantly seeking eye for art, keeping the Library up to date and staying on top of museums and exhibitions is O'Keefe's job. Any showings you want to recommend, any site links you think we should have, she is the one to mention it to.

Frida

Frida

Content Moderator

If you hear from Frida, chances are it is because of something you uploaded that may not be appropriate in a way or two. Not to worry, she only views pieces on an individual level and not a body of work as a whole. While strict, she is willing to listen to appeals and consult other staff when necessary. She also moderates the forums from time to time.

Gogh

Gogh

Emo-ministrator

Gogh does not appear often, but when he does, it usually is to complain about how the site is run. He is not the biggest fan of Seurat—far from it. He can be seen moderating the forums in his own.. unique.. way. Gogh is more like the anti-moderator.
