He created wonderful Art Nouveau enamel jewelry and glass sculptures. Sadly I haven't found a really good source of his images online. Go wiki and google images!

Game: Rarely Drawn Animals - rea

Alrighty, it's time we had someone take that challenge to draw one of these critters.
I present you with the under loved, yet often adorable asiatic water buffalo:

http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs36/f/2008/261/e/1/Kwai_by_Rea2mill.jpg

This particular specimen is wearing a Thai (Laotian, Cambodian) style Phakama (plaid cloth of many functions) around his head, and another couple at his waist. The Thai water buffalo is frequently the butt of many jokes. In Thai, the word for buffalo is also slang for "retard" as well as the male genitalia. Poor unloved buffalo.

a couple of photos from Thailand:

Congratulations to Soufex for winning the TP! She has a very 'cool' creature for all of you to paint, sketch, carve, or doodle - take a look!

i am still rather amused and excited by this! :D

if i could please, i would like to use my character boxcar as my character for the trading post!

boxcar is a pyenabär (polar bear/hyena cross). she is white-furred with a polar bear-type build, approximately 5'5" tall and has a bright blue mane akin to a hyena's, as well as more hyena-like facial features. she also had a black-and-bleu dreadlocked tail, which includes a british blug socket and cable woven into it. she is relatively sedate, but has a fiery temper when provoked; loves cold weather, motoribikes, sushi, and urban landscapes. her fashion sense is bright but fairly practical with industrial accents. i'm afraid i don't draw her that often so my pictures of her are somewhat scant- here is the most recent!

http://soufex.artspots.com/image/19386/so-why-dont-you-run

thank you once again, lovely people at artspots!

~sfx.

So now you know! How can you resist a polar bear-hyena cross? Let's see your take on Boxcar - perhaps you will be our next winner!

So sorry for the delay! I seem to have slipped up last Sunday and decided to just let it go one more week to see if we could gather any more entries. Silly me, I guess that extra week did not make any difference after all! I for one, will blame school for starting at the most inconvenient time, as many of you participants I'm sure are currently being overwhelmed with homework.
Well, to the vote then! Perhaps by the time our next winner is announced, people will be ready for an excuse to take a break! In the mean time, yours truly will return to my artistry, and try to keep on my toes a little better with the poll.

Here's a bird I next to never see, beautiful things though and they live on the coast (They're also bloody huge). Gannets!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gannet

They have a lovely cream face with a bright blue eye, kinda like jackdaws. Turns out they are the biggest northern seabird so that explains a lot. Should draw one myself, there was a focus on them a few years back in Spring Watch though I've also seen them at Bempton Cliffs myself :) The kids aren't the most handsome thing in the world but they certainly pull out a swan when they grow.

The blue-footed booby (Sula nebouxii) is an adorable seabird with bright seafoam-blue webbed feet and a blue-gray face to match. The blue-footed booby belongs the Order Pelecaniformes (Pelicans and their relatives) and has long pointed wings and a narrow pointed bill.

Male blue-footed boobies show off their blue feet during their courtship dance, in which he picks up his feet and displays them in an exagerated step-walk.

There are approximately 40,000 breeding pairs of blue-footed boobies in the world and half of them inhabit the Galapagos Islands.

I hope I'm right, 'cause that's what I drew. =P

This one was hard, but it's interesting and something I never thought of. What I mean is, I've always been inspired by comic book stuff (specifically Marvel or DC), but it never dawned on me to look up specific artists of the comic book genre (how lame am I?). So this was a good exercise for me. Since it's also an alphabet game, I went with this guy, who evidently has worked for both Marvel and DC. My stuff is not anywhere near as cool as his, but I've always found that this style makes me want to pick up a pencil and paper.

So, for H, it's Bryan Hitch.

Have to snag this one or my mother will kill me :D Though I have an H and J as well in a book next to me... Maybe somebody will get him?

Anywho George Stubbs. He's not the most well known British artist but he was vital in the up and coming. He was the first artist here at least to really look at painting animals properly, not as squares as they were previously (Seriously, it very wierd). He also looked in depth into the horse, which is what he's most famous for painting such as Whistlejacket, a racing horse well known for biting anything that moved, creating plates of their anatomy that is still used today.

So I give you, George Stubbs.
