New Rule

After listening to several concerned users, I am instituting a new rule:

Only official ArtSpots reviewers can initially critique pieces in this group. This means unless "ArtSpots Reviewer" is under someone's user picture and name, they cannot be the first to critique a piece in this group, and they especially cannot say if they think a piece would or would not be good for ArtSpots. The latter was a rule instituted when this group was first made, but was ignored. People are welcome to disagree, agree, or add to a reviewer's reply, but they cannot out of the blue make judgments on pieces submitted to this group. Any such future replies will be deleted without notification.

If this continues to be a problem, I will get the coders to make this group so that anyone can post, but only reviewers can reply. I do not want it to come to this, as I do like the idea of this process being open to others to comment on, but initial critiques and portfolio judgments are for the reviewers to do.

I do apologize for the delayed responses on a few of the topics, and we will work to fix this. But in the meantime, if you want general critique for your piece, or want to give critique on pieces, use the regular Critique & Redline forum or suggest new critique groups to make.

Right, just noticed the "unless "ArtSpots Reviewer" is under someone's user picture and name, they cannot be the first to critique a piece in this group". Sorry for my earlier post. Hopefully Andrew got my reply in an email notification, because my points were still valid.

I suggest getting additional reviewers or telling the current ones to get working if anyone expects this board to be any kind of useful. I notice in your recent call for staff ("ArtSpots Positions Open") you weren't asking for reviewers, one would assume that means you aren't in need of them. The recent activity (or lack thereof) suggests this to not be the case.

I also suggest bolding the edit in the rules thread, since it's the most important one on there.

And apologies for the public complaint, but it's more worthwhile than trying to play guessing games about who this comment is best directed to.

sigh. thanks for the consistency, dudes. :/

I went and bolded it, and also took care of another entry. I do apologize for the late responses.

We have a fair amount of reviewers, but the unfortunate situation at hand is that most of them are artists getting ready for Further Confusion, just after the holidays as well. This has caused some backlog, yes, and the lack of activity you have noticed. I am just checking boards now because I spent most of yesterday (and this morning) helping get Iron Artist stuff ready.

I will admit, I dropped the ball on this one. I did not forsee the vaccuum that FC has caused, and will work to remedy this for next year. We are taking on a couple more reviewers, but again, schedules have conspired against us and it is slow going. All I will say (and say it publically), is if things like help in this critique group do not pick up after FC then there might be some reorganization.

Please do bear with us. We are still a "new" site (three months old) and have grown very, very fast. I am trying my best to keep up and bring people on as fast as I can.
