I don't necessarily want to see what my most popular images are, since those are most likely going to be my oldest. I want to see how my newer images are doing, since it gives me a better idea of what the more popular aspects of my artwork are. Please tell me that's going to be expanded later? Or so you can see it from either end of the spectrum(most/least popular)? :)

Yes, it is going to be expanded, and this is the exact sort of input I've been looking for! :) See, now I can program in the ability to check via time, like, what about images uploaded in the last month, last two months, December, or whatnot. That wasn't in the old statistics, but that is something I can definitely add to the new ones. Ideas like that are what I'm looking for. Thank you. :)

I'm still trying to figure out how to make the image stats more useful and more than just number-counting.

I actually like the number counting aspect to be honest. The stats are more or less useless for what I use them for at the moment since I have more than 9 images; I don't necessarily want to see what my most popular images are, since those are most likely going to be my oldest. I want to see how my newer images are doing, since it gives me a better idea of what the more popular aspects of my artwork are. Please tell me that's going to be expanded later? Or so you can see it from either end of the spectrum(most/least popular)? :)

Klawzie said: Can we no longer shuffle our statistics by Popularity, Views and Favs? o.o I liked that ability, but I don't see how to do that now?

ETA: I'm also sad that we now get to see fewer images rather than more images. :/

Not yet. My main goal was to get the framework for these things out the door, so to speak. :) Adding widgets/improving widgets is very simple from a programming standpoint, and making the Stats one more comprehensive is on the list. The big question we have there is, do we want to have widgets that can have multiple instances? For example, set up 3 stats widgets, one set to views, one set to comments, one set to faves, and have them live side by side or in the same column? Do we want to futz with graphs?

Widgets are supposed to be "at a glance" type items. There are a couple widgets which expand out into fuller pages (Recent Comments, Subscribed Forum Topics) and we could add a much more comprehensive stats page to jump to from the stats widget.

As the site grows and gets more features, we wrestle with decisions about what to keep and remove (visually) and keep the same functionality. We still want the site to be simple to use, but have features there for those who want them, and invisible to those who don't. Basically, have it so someone who just comes to upload images and comments only sees what they need/want to, but also let someone who wants to do commissions, take part in forums, games, etc. can see everything they want to. It's a tough balancing act, and we're in a small transition stage.

I'm still trying to figure out how to make the image stats more useful and more than just number-counting.

Babbage C. Cheetah

I'm sure some of you have noticed some fairly obvious visual changes with your "My Home" page and the main home page. Seurat will have more to say about these and more changes tomorrow, but now that the code is done I will preemptively answer some questions and bely fears. :)

First, widgets! Drag them, drop them, add them or remove them. Customize your home page how you like, as simple or as complex as you like. Up/down arrows are settings, -/+ are minimize/maximize, and X is remove. If anyone has used iGoogle, it's the same concept.

Second, if people are wondering where the "Statistics" tab went, both things under that are now widgets. (Recent Comments, which is there by default and is more comprehensive now, and Image Stats.)

Third, while we did do some initial beta testing, ironed out some rough edges and bugs, and tested them on major browsers, there may still be some oddities. Please, let me know here and ask questions, and I will try to answer them. I am sure some people will have even more suggestions, too. :)

But now, I sleep!
