Trading Post Overflow

Bonjour all! Wanted to draw for the Trading Post but couldn't get around to it that week? Here's where you can post your drawings of Trading Post Characters from past weeks!

This way, after the poll is over and that thread has ended, the creators of those characters can know to check back here and see if someone else was inspired by their character enough to draw them after the fact.

Feel free to go through past Trading Posts and see if a character tickles your fancy enough to draw it. I've stickied this thread for easy reference. :)

I do like the way posting in old TPs keeps things organised by character. The TP overflow at yerf felt a bit messy and hard to search through when it got a serveral pages long. When someone posts it's not clear what they are posting until you load the thread and take a look.

It doesn't bother me that much and a few people have probaby suggested this feature... it's just a thought though as things might be more user friendly as they were. I guess the intention is to to avoid bringing old posts to the top but I think a new picture kind of deserves a ressurected thread as much as any comment on an old issue.

Anyway sorry, the kind folks behind ArtSpots get a fair bit of contsructive criticism to deal with, I'd be happy either way. I'd love to see what pops up in this thread regardless :)

Well though it could be a bit of work, could always have a simple link system. Say for Thorn's first TP, a link to the original TP in the post with the new artwork which certainly would help and help people rediscover rather than hunt.

A muffin a day keeps the evil away.

My thing is the trading post is already at its 20th week, as more and more TP threads accumulate its going to be hard to go back further and further to find one specific Trading Post. Call me lazy..buuuut....IMO I think having a sticky topic at the top where people can dump their character drawings is still a lot easier to navigate than going back through the whole forum.

That's a good idea Karu, but it's not really what I meant- I probably wasn't very clear..

For example if you were postmaster and you kept watching the overflow for a drawing of your character, you would have to look at the overflow thread every single time someone made a post in here. Or scroll through a lot of posts to find those pics, if you hadn't been checking up on it for a while. If the old TPs are used, as soon as a post is made in an old TP thread you can be pretty certain about what it's going to be about and how recent the post is.

If you decide later down the track that you want to look back at the pics, you could just do a search of the name of the postmaster or TP # in the thread name. Otherwise you'd have to do that AND sift through the overflow.

The old TPs would come back to the top of the forum when a new pic was posted anyway so I don't think that them getting lost is a problem..

I guess it just depends how different people use the forum interface. I must just be a ridiculous exception lol. :S I just wanted to see if anybody else felt that way as it seemed to go up without a second thought. I have no idea how many requests for an overflow toulouse may have received, but it obviously has a bit of support.

-EDIT I see what you mean Thorn.. I guess it depends on whether you're a lazy postmaster (my example) or a lazy, late participant lol. Either way will benefit one of the two.

I wonder if making a sticky topic of all the links to the trading posts as they come with the name of the postmaster and the name of the character they want drawn would work?

OK, here's one that was for Amara's TP. I sketched at the beginning of the month while waiting for the movers. Little did I know that it was going to take this long to transfer my phone to the new place.

Sorry for the unfinished nature of these.. I usually wouldn't publish these online but I figured people might want to see them anyway :S

Just some sketches that didn't make it to the TP.

Yay Elsa! Thank you T-Tiger :D

Thank you so much, T-Tiger- Toby looks awesome! *hugs*

So how does this trading post business work exactly? Are there signups? How does one vote, and when?

Kynliod, check out the main 'Art games and goodies" forum to see the current trading post. they're numbered, the current thread is for Sudan Red. You draw Sudan's character (there's a description in the thread), and then at the end of the week we all vote who's picture we like best and the winner gets to have their character drawn. Hope that explains it :) This thread is just the overflow for past weeks where people didnt get their entries turned in on time for the poll but still wanted to draw the characters from trading posts past.

OK, cool, thank you, Thornwolf! Sounds like fun!

I didn't get a chance to scan this a couple of weeks ago, but I had Ferdinand on the brain for Sudan Red :-) I hope this is the right thread to post it.

Calzephyr - Hahahaha! That is too adorable!! :D Thank you so much!

You're welcome! Hopefully some day I can make it more colourful or something :-)

Err ... ahahaha ... this is so incredibly late that the recipient has probably forgotten, but I had planned to do something for SpiritWolf because she made me such a lovely picture for my trading post months ago. ^__^;

So, here you are SpiritWolf/SaiTenyo! It's your man Kaid from your second trading post, sorry it's so late, but I wanted to do something in return for you :3
