Trading Post #23 - Mauricia

Hello, hello, a bit belated this time, I do apologize! This next one will be about the length of the last, a week and a few days, ending around the Monday after next.

This week around, it is Mauricia who is on the hot seat.. or is it hot easel? Wacom of judgement? Oh, enough of me being silly, here is what she said to me! (And this seems to be a trend, biiig descriptions! :D You guys seem to like them though, lots to work with!)

Thanks everyone for voting! For this TP, I'm giving you guys my main and most interesting character, and online namesake - Mauricia! Thanks to Inali for letting me borrow her character outline-thing!

MAURICIA (a.k.a. MarMar, or Mar)

STATS

Gender: Female
Species: ring-tailed lemur
Anthro or Non-Anthro: Anthro
Body Type: I draw her a bit slimmer than I am... so average-built, leaning on chunky. I sometimes draw her skinny or chubby too, though, so it's all good.
Height: 5'7"
Main Fur Color: Typical ring-tailed lemur markings. Grey/brown with white extremities and chest/belly.
Markings: Again, you can just look up a typical ring-tailed lemur if you want. Basic markings are black rings around the eyes, black muzzle.. ears should be black-topped, but I often draw her ears pure white. Black on the top of her head gradiating to grey down the back. Tail alternates black and white stripes, usually ending in a black tip.
Eye Color: Amber with black pupils.
Paw pad Color: I usually draw her with human hands and feet, since lemur hands are so close to human. Draw her with lemur feet if you like, I often do because they're cute :) Paw pads, if you draw them, are solid black, like a real lemur.
Hair Color: Bright-ish blue-violet(see pics)
Hair Style: Straight, thick hair. I sometimes draw it stright,
sometimes layered. Falls just past her shoulders. This will probably vary in the reference pics, as I tend to draw her hair in the style mine is at that time, so hair length is not too much of an issue. Can be in a ponytail, braids, whatever.
Clothing: Tomboy-ish, usually, unless her clothing is lending towards the theme of the picture. :D She favors orange and blue clothing, and often wears an army cap, as some of the pics show. Usually barefoot, but if wearing shoes, usually simple skate shoes. Favorite outfit of the moment is a sleeveless hoodie with a striped long-sleeved shirt underneath. And a denim skirt.
Extras: She wears red-rimmed glasses. :D
Personality: Mar is like me, so those of you who have met me in
person... this should be fun. :D Basically, she's an extrovert, enjoys being with her friends, and being a dork. SHe isn't afraid of being silly in public, but also enjoys some of the finer things in life. Her interests basically define her, so let's move on. :P

INTERESTS

Alright! This is, what I'm told, the fun part of drawing Mar. I would love for you guys to just pull from her interests here, and have a field day. :D There should be something here to quell everyone, as she, like me, has a wide range of interests. I'll list all the ones that might lend well to a picture, and you guys can have fun with it. :D

Core interests: Art/drawing, knitting, video games, playing guitar, gardening, computering

Movies/TV Shows: DOCTOR WHO, House, Monty Python, Black Adder, Heroes, Miyazaki movies, Tarantino/Rodriguez movies, A-Team, Corner Gas, Tengen Toppa Gurren, Lagann

Video games: Guitar Hero, DDR, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy
series, Katamari series, Harvest Moon series, ANYTHING Nintendo

Knitting: Knitting is my #2 hobby second only to drawing. I love
knitting socks, scarves and hats, but I've also knit some geeky
things, like a chain chomp hat, a black mage backpack, and a shark hat. XD So you can have fun with me knitting odd things if you like.

Pets: I have a standard grey chinchilla named Yuffie, who has been drawn once or twice as a non-anthro with Mar.

Active stuff: I love biking, and I adore playing paintball. I spin poi, mostly with glowsticks but I've spun fire too. Yoga is something I enjoy too. :)

Music: I devour all kinds of different music. My favorites are
celtic/folk, techno/trance and Japanese/J-rock stuff. I play piano, guitar, and djembe, and am learning to play the bagpipes. :D

Books: Anything by H.P. Lovecraft, Nail Gaiman, or China Mieville. Basically, science fiction/horror stuff. Also, I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter. :X

Um... in a perfect world she would be standing with a recognizably Ottawa background. See, there's the canal, and there's that big hotel castle thing, maybe you can see Parliament building, but if you can, only just.

Oh yeah, she is supposed to be putting in an earphone for some kind of music player she's holding in the other hand. It's hard to see with the sketchiness.

PS oh, a friend remarked that Mar's nose looked vaguely like the kanji for "village". Maybe if you squint and stand 6feet away...

Aaaw dangit! D: I wasn't sure which cover Canada would have gotten since it was so close to America. It is good at least to know that Canada gets the "Queen's English" version then. :) It is the one I have too!

Oh well, I will cite artistic reasons for the glaring error then - the yellowy American cover worked better with the colour-scheme! ;) (And the UK book cover is waaaaay more complicated and would have looked like vom! D: )

I'm going to try to get something in, Maurcia. This week has turned out to be a busier one then planned (big quota push at work, finals at school, art deadline this month), but I'm going to try my best!

This is a cool idea. Since it's Sunday, I'll join in on the next one. (I really just need to practice with all types of character designs.)

Yeah I keep meaning to try too, honest! But I get intimidated by how great all the other pictures are.

I have been playing World of Warcraft lately so I needed to do something WoW themed when I saw that in your interests. So here is your character as a WoW hunter and Yuffie the oversized chinchilla is your not-so-combat pet and they're trying to play warsong gulch. This is probably the millionth time that a pet that won't fight picture has been done, but I really wanted to draw the chinchilla, and this is what I came up with :)
