First of all, critique is welcome on everything and anything I post here- I want to know what I'm doing wrong (and how to fix it)! XD

For now I just have one sketch- a sketch-illustration for a holiday activity a few of my characters are participating in. It's got some major issues (just take it into Photoshop and flip it to see what I mean) so some pointers on anthro facial anatomy would be great.

I do have some figure drawing stuff from art class- though they're currently at school, so I'll post them once I bring them home.

One thing I notice, as a crit - it seems like you like doing 3/4 view a lot. Is this a common habit in your work? If so, try broadening to different angles and proportions - it can be tricky, but superfun too.

That said, your work has a cool cartoony look, I like it! That first pic is really funny, I like the story it tells. XD

Thanks, Mauricia! And yes, I do do quite a few 3/4 views XD. I used to struggle with that angle quite a bit (and still do, on occasion XD) and therefore draw at that angle frequently to keep in practice and improve on it. But it's definitely time that I start broadening out on those head angles ;)

Yay, glad you started up a sketchbook too. :) And yeah any head angle that's looking up or down and I get lost and confused. Hehe. Make that yer homework then. A page full of varying head angles, due in three days! ;)

oh noes, more homework! However, this sounds like a lot more fun than a 15-18 paragraph term paper XD I'll see what I can do! :D

well, here they are... I'm not particularly pleased with any of them. They were just scribbled up real quick with pen during my APUSH and Brit Lit classes, so I didn't have much energy, nor any refs XD. I'll do some more practices in the future, with some more realistic heads as well as cartoons, and some refs and considerably more effort ;)

Whoo, good job! Actually did your homework! ;) I think they came out really good though, especially with no reference to go on and while falling asleep in class. Hehe.

sketch for the Christmas pic I did this year, just 'cuz I like the original sketch too. Actual thing is blue though- I grayscaled it on my comp to help bump up the levels (for my overcomplicated method of transferring the sketch to the good paper.)

Ugh, I've had so little time to sketch lately! School is eeeeeeeevil (excepting art class.) Here are a few little things I managed to doodle- the dog was done so I'd have a sketch to work with while teaching my digital graphics teacher how to use a tablet (I got to test out an Intuos in the process, it was awesome :D) and then next to it is my rather rushed and lazy ink/color/shading job. Then below those two is an unfinished sketch of Kyrah in her feral form- I don't think I've drawn her as a non-anthro since last May. The good news is that I somehow improved a little since then, and I like how she's looking now much better than how she looked back then XD

Wow, yeah that did come out really good! Good action to the pose looks like, like one would expect a bouncing dog. Hehe. And oooh love winged quadrupeds, need to finish that one! ^.^

Thanks, Kooky! I don't know that I'll get around to finishing the winged one (I have so many things to sketch right now and almost no time to do it in! :O ) But I'll definitely do some more of Kyrah in her feral form in the future, especially since her old ref sheet needs major updating O.o

Finally brought my figure drawing stuff home from class, though the better stuff needs spraying before I can scan it since it's done in charcoal. That may take a bit, since the weather outside is being kind of nasty right now (though there's the possibility of a late start for school tomorrow ;D) For now, here's a manikin sketch in Sharpie (from life) that I had to make "surreal"... I was rather stuck for an idea, so this is what came of it (and then there's a little left-handed sketch down there too.)

One of our final assignments for art was to create three art "tags" for a sort of art-exchange in class. I chose to do mine in Micron pen and Prismacolor markers, and they look a heckuva lot more vibrant in life. I detest how my scanner scans tradition art. That aside, I do like how they turned out, despite the fact that little time was put into them (hence the rather rushed-and-horribly-skewed anatomy and perspective on the anthro dog XD)

One last sketch for the night- actually, a vent-sketch in progress. I'd really like a critique on it, but I didn't want to start a whole new post for it in the Critique/Redline section. So, if any one could give me a quick critique here, I'd really appreciate it. Specifically, what's troubling me is the arm (on our right). Something just doesn't look right about it, but while I have a few thoughts on what it may be, I can't quite put my finger on it. I'd prefer to do as little erasing as possible, but I won't stress out or anything if people suggest I just erase that part and start over. Thanks!

(and if anyone's wondering, no, that's not Toby)

(and his fingers aren't missing, I just haven't drawn them yet)

First of all, awesome sketches! And very cute art tags!

About the arm in question, I do believe the elbow may be pushed too far towards the viewer. To me it looks like it should be more towards the edge of the table. Also it may look more natural if he was holding the Guinness (hee) more in front of him rather than off to the side--unless the intention is that he's handing it to someone sitting beside him?

Also I do love the way you draw muzzles, but I think his might be just a smidge too large for the rest of him! ;D

I hope that helped in some manner! Btw, his expression is great.

Awwwwws, the mouse/rat guy atop of the cheese is my favorite. ^.^ Cute! And got one of those type mannequins for Christmas too myself though haven't really 'used' it yet.

As for that right arm, I agree with Fru, it seems to be a bit hyper-extended or something. Trying to put my arm in the same position doesn't seem to be possible without moving the upper arm out to the side away from his body more. Dunno if I see any way of fixing it without some major erasing (or photoshop editing!).
