TRADING POST #25 - SpiritWolf77

Ah, 'tis the season for another fabulous Trading Post! And here we are, at our 25th TP already! Where has the time gone? It seemed only yesterday that I first sauntered onto the forums. I feel as if I should give some sort of nostalgic speech, but in the interest of not boring you all to tears, I shall refrain. ;3 Enough small talk, let us get to the game! Our postmaster this time is once again SpiritWolf77! Let us see what sort of character she'll have you all drawing...

First of all, I must apologize in advance. I'm pretty sick with the flu at the moment so I'm going to be a bit lazy and use an already-typed up description from one of the art exchange LJ communities.

I went with a more unknown character last time, but I think this time I'm going with my default, and favorite of my characters.

*Name:* Kaid
*Gender*: Male
*Species*: Kalnarin (anthro canid with features similar to a fox/wolf/pomeranian and various other canines)

*Description:* Somewhat short and stocky, but fit/in good shape. He has tan fur with lighter markings on his muzzle, throat, chest, stomach, and inside his ears. His tail and ears are tipped in dark grey-brown. He has reddish freckles/spots on his cheeks. His hair is red, and cropped short, with a darker layer showing through in the back. It's sort of a "bowl-cut" but parted in the middle (think Daniel Jackson, Peter Petrelli, etc). He has light green eyes and a dark grey-brown nose.

*Accessories:* He's usually seen in his kalnarin military uniform. It's army green with gold trim, buttons, and buckles. He has a dark brown belt with a silver buckle and black combat boots. His more casual dress usually consists of a dark, long-sleeved shirt, pants, and sometimes a big brown overcoat and red, green, or plaid scarf.

He can also occasionally be seen in ceremonial robes later in his life. They consist of loose off-white robes, or an off-white white baggy "turtleneck" type sweater and dark grey-brown pants. Shoes with this outfit are optional, but if you draw them, they can be off-white footwraps (think Luke Skywalker in A New Hope). He also sometimes carries a staff with this outfit (see reference).

*Personality:* He's very shy and usually somewhat serious. He's booksmart but socially awkward.

Anything else?: He's a stealth pilot/assasin for the Kalnarin Airforce, chosen do to his apt piloting skills. Before this, he worked for the Kalnarin military as a doctor and researcher.

There you have it! Since I know many of you are somewhat preoccupied with the holiday festivities, I shall run this Trading Post until Saturday, January 5th, 2008! Allons-y!

Pretty advanced. They have spaceships and the like and have colonized other planets.

I did this because I really wanted to draw that uniform. This one was just a quick sketch of one just version.

Yaaay, finished another pic for the trading post. ^.^ Wasn't sure if I was going to try this time around after I saw it was kinda a "military" character which just isn't something I'm that into. Just my own tastes I guess. Hehe. Though after seeing some of the great gallery pictures of Kaid, I saw that there was a lot more to him than just simply some character in the military. Lotta great emotion in SpiritWolf's pictures of him and seems so....somber, or intense, all the time. So that's what I was trying to put across in this picture though dunno if caught it as well as I'd have liked. But still was great fun trying. :p

Working on a few sketches but hopefully I'll be able to get a digital version by the fifth.

Resubmitting my trading post entry! Redid the shadows to make them darker and hopefully rounded everything off a little better. An improvement hopefully.

Here is my "almost" finished entry. I haven't colored it yet and, I might not. I think it looks OK as is. But, if I have time...

Wow! I have to admit, I'm pretty floored by the results so far! Excellent work, you two, Kooky and Boxcutter. Everyone else, I'm giving you notice! :) Notice that this Trading Post will go until... Tuesday, provided we have at least three entries. So c'mon, folks! Give it a shot.

I thought I'd at least get a sketch in for this one. Kaid in later years at an air show, swapping war stories with one of the newer pilots.

Ahh, I'm trying but no one's letting me get to a scanner. :_(

Oh, look at me. I am out of hiding, and wrapping up this week's Trading Post for voting! This time around, I am really impressed with the stories behind each piece, or that seem to be. Perhaps it is just the uniform, as they are usually layered, literally, with stories to tell. Excellent work, you three!

Dang I missed it!! Okay Spiritwolf, I will draw you something anyway becasue I remember way back when you drew me a lovely thing for my trading post. XD Just might be a little while!!

Anyway, they all look great ... it was tough to vote! Yay for everyone =D

Awesome, kooky wins. Now that I'm slowly getting more time back, I should be able to actually post something. :D
