This was my little project for today. Three different renderings of three hooded Crows, progressively becoming more damaged as it goes to the right. I scanned a sketch in and leveled it, the leveled off sketch is used in 2 (by itself) and 3. 3 and 1 uses a lining I did with a 3 pixel brush. 1 is a basic cel shading, 2 I laid a flat color underneath the lines and then used a 3 pixel brush on top of the lines for details, and 3 used a variety of brushes and effects.

hi art spots! :) tell me your feelings.

Well, they don't look like hooded crows. I'm a big fan of corbies so I have spent a lot of time studying them. The beaks are way too short even for a toony version of the bird, a finch comes to mind first. Nothing reads as crow aside from teh ark color. The nasal bristles should cover up the nose hole sine the bristles are a very corvid thing.

the various treatments are interesting.

"Hooded" Crows. They have hoods. Hoodies.

oooh. I like crow #2.

The people who rate the portfolios are really nitpicky about things looking a certain way, so I'd probably not use anything too design oriented like this, they'll probably say it looks unfinished. I like the hoodie crow picture you used as your avatar best, personally. I'd say you'd probably want to do a bunch more "finished" typical artspots submission kind of stuff.

...just the feeling I get from the people around here 'sall.

Ohhhh haha ok I get it. :> Still, the beaks look really short for a crow.
